A Gift from the ely Family Farm to HRH Prince Charles
Two months after Burrenbeo Trust and Burren Life Programme wrote a letter to invite HRH Prince Charles to the Burren, he arrived!
ely were very fortunate to feature in a special “Products of the Burren Landscape Hamper” featuring the Burren Perfumery, Burren Smokehouse, Lough Avalla Tea Room Cheese, St. Tola Irish Goat Cheese, Hazel Mountain Chocolates and of course organic Burren sausages, beef carpaccio and lamb chops from the ely family farm.
Hugh Robson, director of ely Erik Robson’s father (both pictured), lunched with Prince Charles when Hugh served as head of the IOFGA – the Irish Organic Farmers and Growers association. Prince Charles has always had a keen interest in organic farming methods. At ely, we rear our own organic beef and organic pork on our family farm in the Burren, Co. Clare. Everything is traceable at ely. If we don’t know where it’s from you don’t get it.
“In farming, as in gardening, I happen to believe that if you treat the land with love and respect (in particular, respect for the idea that it has an almost living soul, bound up in the mysterious, everlasting cycles of nature) then it will repay you in kind.”
– Charles, Prince of Wales
